PROCESS
When we make decisions in the right order, they get easier as we go along.
If we don’t, they not only get harder, but we get backed into a corner without good options.
Making decisions in the right order makes the design process easier and less costly, and the outcome more beautiful.
When starting a project from the beginning, this is what you can expect.
here is The Process:
1. A Discovery Call
I’d love to chat with you! Tell me about your project. What are you doing? What frustrations are you having? How would you like help? I’ll give you some ideas. If you’d like to proceed, we’ll schedule a time to meet.
2. Initial Consultation
Show me your space. Tell me what you like and what you don’t like about it. What do you want to do in this room? How many people will be doing it? How often does each activity occur? What do you want to keep? What do you want to get rid of? What items are special to you? I’ll ask more questions and take pictures and measurements of the room. Then, I’ll give you an idea how long it will take to create your scale drawings.
3. Dreamwork
So, it’s homework, but doesn’t Dreamwork sound more exciting? Hopefully it’s fun. It will go a long way toward helping me be the best possible guide for you. I’d like you to find pictures of rooms you love. I also want you to choose 3 words that express how you want to feel in your room. I’ll send an email with details, helps and suggestions for how to do it.
4. Design Time
I use what I learned about you and your space to make scale drawings of possible floor plans. I also create a Pinterest board just for you where I pin ideas and inspiration. It works great for helping me show you possibilities.
5. Presentation
This is a fun day! I have floor plans to show you and you have Dreamwork to show me. It’s like Show and Tell! I’ll have 2-3 options for floor plans and will talk you through each element discussing the features and showing examples of furnishings on your Pinterest board for clarity. As you share your pictures and words, I begin to get a vision for how to interpret that in your space. I’ll share the next step for how to proceed and we’ll schedule a date for shopping.
6. Shopping
Main upholstery pieces are often the starting place for a living space (or possibly an area rug) so I like to get all that chosen in one day. We’ll use your inspiration pictures and words to stay on track. Because you’ve picked the floor plan, we know exactly the size of the furniture pieces we need. I get a little giddy around a wall of fabrics so this is going to be fun! When we’re done, I’ll let you know the next step. We’ll continue this process until your space is complete.
7. Finale
This is when the magic happens. We make sure all the art is hung, lighting is finalized, pillows are fluffed, throws in place and plants in the perfect spots. Some clients choose to leave the room while I do the final accessorizing so they can walk back in for a “Big Reveal” experience.
That’s it! Are you ready to love your space?
